A sustainable future
At Energia and GIY we believe there has never been a better time to Get Ireland Growing. Right now more and more people are interested in living sustainable lives, but don’t always know how. After giving away 1000 limited edition GROWBoxes, we now have €10,000 worth of food growing prizes to give away this summer. We’re all here to learn and grow together. After all, if we can help make sustainability attainable to everyone, that’s another step in the right direction for a more sustainable future for all of us.
About Get Ireland Growing
Energia Get Ireland Growing was first launched in 2016 to promote community food growing projects nationwide. Through this initiative Energia, in partnership with GIY, supported 257 community groups with grants totalling €220,000. The recipients included schools, NGOs and not-for-profit organisations, community gardens and allotment groups, GIY groups, hospitals, crèches, direct provision centres and Men’s Sheds all across the country.
This year the Energia Get Ireland Growing campaign aims to make it easy to grow food at home and in your community, and help power a more sustainable future. We’re on a mission to get as many people across Ireland growing. We began the campaign by giving away 1000 GROWBoxes – each one full of everything you need to start growing five of our favourite veg.
Over the summer months we’ll also be giving away €10,000 worth of food growing prizes, including Community GROWBoxes – one-of-a-kind seed libraries – and a community garden worth €3,000, awarded to the most inspiring community of growers at the end of the summer.
